It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
